• Want to feel happy? Exercise increases energy levels by endorphins in your bloodstream carrying the hormone serotin to the brain. This also helps the mind to focus.

• Just a reminder that if looking good is not a significant enough factor to exercise alone it can also slow or help prevent heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, and loss of muscle mass.

• Your heart is just another muscle, when the heart becomes stronger it pumps more blood per beat, so at rest, the heart rate is lower and it is not going to have to work as hard to expend the same amount of effort.

• Weight bearing exercise - Running will burn more calories than a non weight bearing exercise. Please bare in mind though, the added pressure on your joints through weight bearing exercise.

• Try and include the whole body, incorporating multiple muscles groups during a weight resistance exercise will mean you burn more calories.

• Here’s a double incentive to fitness! Weight training is very important for maintaining bone density as you get older, but is also ideal for increasing muscle mass that will enable your body to burn more calories even at rest.
