Now is not a time to Waver
When writing articles for Living Within, and in my approach to personal training generally, I always try to draw upon my own experiences as an athlete.
I am currently in a situation where I am mentally and physically applying myself 100% every day with the goal of representing Great Britain at the World Rowing Championships in Munich. I had a recent knee operation which took me out of my sport for 6 months and resulted in me missing valuable training and trials. Since returning to rowing, I have somehow managed to put myself through rigorous training on a day to day basis which is growing ever more demanding.
My challenge is keeping motivated when my goal of being selected is not guaranteed. However, I know that if I allow any doubt to creep in then the desired outcome will remain even further outside my grasp.
Someone once told me that when you are stuck in a rut there is a good time waiting just around the corner. It’s important to be patient and just to hang in there. Fighting through the hard times will make you stronger, whatever your situation.
My advice to you - Sink or Swim – it’s your choice.
